2023: Buhari Reveals How Tinubu’s Candidacy Will Affect APC’s Chances

Muhammed-Bello Buhari, a public affairs expert, has stated that the rise of Bola Tinubu will have an impact on the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s in the 2023 elections.

On Wednesday, Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State, won the APC Presidential primary poll by a landslide, with seven other candidates standing down in his favor.

He received 1,271 votes, beating Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who received 235 votes, former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, who received 316 votes, and Senate President Ahmed Lawan, who received 152 votes.

On Saturday, Buhari wrote on his Facebook page that most northerners regard Tinubu as a Southerner before his religious devotion.

The public commentator stated that most northerners are indifferent about the prospect of a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Buhari, however, asserted that the Northern’s disposition is not due to intolerance or hatred.

He said: “There’s this stereotype northern Muslims have for southern Muslims.

“What my Christian brothers and sisters failed to understand is the fact that the majority of the masses here in the North do not care whether Tinubu is a Muslim or Christian, what they see is simply a Southern candidate.

“There’s this stereotype northern Muslims have for southern Muslims, it’s this same consideration that’s making the most northerners to be indifferent about the prospect of a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

“But it’s never about intolerance or hatred or any lack of sense of brotherhood.”
