The selection of Kashim Shatimma, a two-term governor of Borno State, as Bola Tinubu’s running mate, according to Kano State Governor Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, is a guarantee that the All Progressives Congress, or APC, will prevail in the upcoming general elections in 2023.
Sen. Shetima was congratulated on being named the APC’s vice presidential candidate by Ganduje, who was also in the running for the position.
The governor hailed Shetima as extremely witty and prepared for the role of Vice President in a statement released by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba.

Ganduje mentioned that Shettima, who played a significant role and highlighted his qualification, competence, and exposure, and with whom he shared common experience during the pre-presidential primary campaign.
He expressed his belief that the senatorial candidate for Borno Central, a former two-term governor of Borno State, is a strong choice who can work with the president-elect to advance Nigeria.
The Governor applauded Asiwaju Bola Ahmad Tinubu, the APC flagbearer, for choosing Shetima and referred to the decision as an indication of the party’s electoral success.
Then, Ganduje urged Nigerians, especially APC supporters, to support the party’s presidential candidate and his vice presidential running mate in order to secure their victory.
