VON DG, Okechukwu Reacts As Tinubu Picks Shettima As Running Mate

The choice of Kashim Shettima as Bola Tinubu’s running mate by the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate has been described by Voice of Nigeria (VON) Director-General Osita Okechukwu.

Okechukwu praised the decision in a statement he personally signed on Sunday in response to it.

He claimed that both individuals have a history of giving outstanding performances while serving as governors and that they could do the same as Nigeria’s leaders.

“On the choice of Distinguished Sen. Kashim Shettima as Vice Presidential Candidate, I think it is an excellent joint ticket.

“An excellent joint ticket because Shettima is a transparent man of action and capable as Asiwaju pointed out,” Okechukwu submitted.

On the issue of a Muslim-Muslim ticket, the VON DG said the good part is both Tinubu and Shettima are moderate Muslims, so there should be no unnecessary fear or agitation, though he would also have preferred a Muslim-Christian ticket.

He said; “On the issue of Muslim-Muslim ticket, as a Christian one would have preferred Muslim-Christian ticket; however, there was the likely input of Northern Governors who are staunch supporters of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The good news is that both are moderate Muslims, not ultra Muslims.”

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Tinubu announced Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election on Sunday, following a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State.
