The disgruntled MPs were encouraged to stay in the party by President Muhammadu Buhari after receiving assurances that their complaints would be handled.

However, the APC NWC stated that the MPs who defected would lose their seats following the meeting.

Eight senators from the party have left for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), and other political parties despite meeting with President Buhari.

In an interview with Arise TV, the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, claimed to be unaware of the MPs’ intentions to leave the party.

He said, “I am not aware of the defection. It is fake news. This is a political season and not all politicians will accept the outcome of everything.”

The decision to suspend the defecting lawmakers was proposed, according to sources who talked with Daily Sun, by the party leadership.
