The 4-0 Serie A victory over Monza by the Partenopei on Sunday has been downplayed by Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to ANAEDOONLINE.NG Sports Extra.

On Sunday, Osimhen scored his second goal of the year for Napoli, but for the second time this year, he was replaced by Adam Ounas in the 86th minute.

The Nigerian international was also replaced in Napoli’s 5-2 victory over Hellas Verona in their Serie A season opener last Monday at Marcantonio Bentegodi.

“It’s nothing to do with the change, but I wanted to motivate the team even more,” Osimhen told DAZN when asked if he was angry at being replaced.

“It was a great performance, I’m proud of how the team started from the first minute to the last.”

Osimhen also heaped plaudits on Napoli’s new signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who was brought in to replace Lorenzo Insigne.

The Georgian forward has been a revelation in Naples, scoring three goals and adding an assist in his opening two league fixtures for Napoli.

“He (Kvaratskhelia) is a player who can give a lot and help us win the game,” Osimhen added.

“We will continue to work to build the understanding even more.

“Everyone, from those on the field to those on the bench, will try to give our all for this season. There are many challenges to understanding where this Napoli can go.”

Napoli, who are topping the Serie A table with six points, will next face Fiorentina at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Saturday.
