In response to the violence and disruption of a Labour Party gathering in Nomeh, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, the apex Igbo sociocultural organization Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has spoken out.
According to information obtained by Anaedoonline.ng, the event happened on Saturday when thugs broke into the meeting place during a grass-roots gathering and drove the party members away.
In response, Ohanaeze cautioned that the attack should be the last one ever reported in the Southeast in a statement released on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia.

Ohanaeze bemoaned the fact that although people and organizations all across the country and the world were endorsing the Labour Party for the 2023 presidential elections, some irate scoundrels were occupied with disrupting party meetings in the area.
“Ohanaeze warns that this should be the last time such incidents will be recorded in any part of Igbo land.
“All the security officers at each unit of Igbo administration are hereby requested to ensure that there will never be a repeat of such irresponsible unwarranted and shameful embarrassment to the Igbo,” he said.
All political parties in the nation are free to advertise their platforms and canvass for support in the Southeast, according to the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, chaired by Ambassador Professor George Obiozor.

However, the group issued a dire warning, saying that nothing under the sun should “compel the so-called unknown gunmen or the filthy partisans masquerading as political leaders to utilize the use of thugs to interrupt political meetings in Igbo country.”
This is not the first time a Labour Party gathering in Enugu State has been interfered with, according to Anaedoonline.ng. A similar occurrence was recently reported in the Coal City State’s Awgu Local Government Area.
