Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the attorney for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), claims that Nnamdi Kanu, the group’s leader, did not instruct Southeasterners to stay at home on October 4, 2022.

This was announced by IPOB in a statement released yesterday.

Ejiofor pleaded with the populace to carry on with their regular routines and disregard the aforementioned directive.

Ejiofor continued by dispelling rumors that Kanu would show up in the Federal High Court in Umuahia, Abia State, on Tuesday for a fundamental rights enforcement proceeding brought on his behalf.

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), was unable to halt the IPOB movement, according to the group.

This proclamation was made in reaction to a claim made by Atiku that if elected president of Nigeria, he would put an end to the Biafra agitation.

The organisation forbade the Waziri from using its name in any Southeast-based campaigns.

Ejiofor said: “Let the members of the general public be properly informed and appropriately guided, that we have the firm instruction of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to inform the public, lovers of freedom and UmuChineke, that Onyendu will not be coming to court on the 4th day of October, 2022.

“As such, Onyendu neither directed, approved nor authorised anyone to declare a sit-at-home on that date.

“Members of the general public are advised to go about their normal business activities on this said date.

“This clarification has become compelling and necessary, in view of the avalanche of misleading information on the social media, and plethora of calls I have received from concerned UmuChineke to this effect.

“It is to be noted too, that Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has several suits pending against the Federal Government of Nigeria, her agencies and officials, in various courts across the Country.”
