A 65-year-old man who had been imprisoned in the state for 20 years in a room has been freed by the Kaduna State Police Command.
When environmental health officers from the Kaduna North Local Government Area of the state entered the room after forcing their way inside the house for a routine inspection, they were shocked to see a man lying on the floor completely naked.
The environmental officers went to the house yesterday morning to check on some beverages kept there, but they found a man locked in a room instead, according to an eyewitness.

The Environment Officers, it was learnt, quickly alerted the Magajin Gari Divisional Police Office, who went to the scene with the Divisional Police Officer to rescue the man from the room.
According to the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige, preliminary investigation revealed that the victim has been locked in the room for the past 20 years where he urinates and defecates.

Speaking to Journalists at the scene in the state capital on Thursday, Jalinge said the state Commissioner of Police, Yekini Ayoku has directed a full investigation into the matter to apprehend any suspect associated with the gruesome act.
The victim who gave his name as Ibrahim Ado is currently receiving treatment in a medical facility within Kaduna metropolis where medical personnel is battling to access his case for proper treatment.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of locking the man for 20 years has not been identified.
