Today (Thursday), an important meeting between the five disgruntled Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors will take place in London, United Kingdom.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Wike, the governors of Oyo, Abia, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu, and Benue, as well as former governor Ayo Fayose, Chief Olabode George, and other officials left the PDP Presidential Campaign Council in protest against the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

The disgruntled governors demand Ayu’s resignation because they believe the party leadership is unduly influenced by the north and lacks balance, equity, and fairness.

Additionally, according to Wike and his allies, the national chairman vowed to resign once the party’s presidential candidate emerged from the North.

The PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, chose Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate despite reportedly having an agreement to run with the governor of Rivers State on a joint ticket after Wike lost to him in the primary election. This sparked a crisis in the main opposition party.

The meeting between Wike and his partners today is reportedly expected to make some choices in advance of the elections in 2023.

It was discovered that the most recent meeting may have been influenced by the party and Atiku’s decision on Monday to launch the campaign without Wike and his friends.

The governor of Rivers State had sworn to stay in the party, branding its presidential candidate as a traitor in an interview with selected media.
