Oparaoji Appointed As Labour Party US Chapter Caretaker Chairman

A seven-person Caretaker Committee headed by Professor Eddie Oparaoji has been appointed by the Labour Party to form the party’s US Chapter.

The party informed the public of this in a letter that was signed by the chairman and secretary of its diaspora committee, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

The party identified Oparaoji as an unrelenting “Obidient” who headed or held important positions at a number of think tanks and civil society organizations, including Chairman of the powerful Nigerian-American Coalition for Justice and Democracy in Washington, DC (NACJD).

The technocrat was also listed as being a member of the Nigerian Association of Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Scientists in the Americas (NAPPSA), Chairman of the Mbaise Policy Roundtable (MPR) in New York, Convener of the Patriotic Citizens of Amuzi (PCA), and Chairman of the PCA.

Oparaoji pledged in his acceptance letter to work assiduously within Nigerian and American legal frameworks to ensure the party’s victory in the general elections of 2023.

The US-based politician and technocrat also promised to assist the party in transitioning Nigeria from a consumer to a producer nation.

He said, “I am in receipt of your letter conveying the decision of the Labour Party Nigeria to institute a 7-man Caretaker Committee to coordinate the activities of the Labour Party in the USA, under my Chairmanship.

“I wish to hereby accept this appointment, on behalf of members of my committee. May I also assure you of our commitment to work diligently within the legal frameworks of Nigeria and the USA, with you and all who share in the ideals and values of the party, of putting people first, to help the party move Nigeria from consumption to production.”
