The Southeast Governors today urged to the Federal Government that a political solution is still applicable to the issue as part of efforts to push for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

According to information obtained by Anaedoonline.ng, the governors highlighted that despite the federal government’s stay of execution, they continue to hold out hope for a political solution to liberate Kanu.

The governor’s response comes after the federal government refused to abide by the Appeal Court’s decision to release the IPOB leader and toss out the six-count charge that the federal government had filed against him.

However, following their meeting in Enugu, the Southeast Governors stated they were keeping an eye on the situation.

Following their meeting, Dave Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi and chairman of the Southeast Governors’ Forum, read the communiqué to reporters.

He declared, “We are closely monitoring the events pertaining to the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in light of the Court judgements.
