Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, says Nigeria must look beyond oil and plans to transition the country from oil to the industrial revolution by building physical infrastructure.

Obi also stated that if elected, he will work to drastically reduce the cost of governance and corruption.

This was revealed by the former Anambra State governor in a series of tweets on his verified Twitter profile on Sunday afternoon.

In terms of cost-cutting initiatives, Obi stated that he will work within available resources to establish a balanced national budget.

He wrote, “As a nation, Nigeria must look beyond oil.

“We, therefore, intend to leapfrog Nigeria from oil to the Fourth Industrial Revolution by expanding physical infrastructure through market-driven reforms that will unleash growth-enabling entrepreneurship and market-creating innovations and market-creating innovations. To ensure sustainability and resilience, we will stop borrowing for consumption.

“It is also imperative that henceforth, we should strive to operate within available resources and strive for a balanced national budget as cost saving measures.”
