Residents of Anambra State dismissed a threat issued by a branch of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) loyal to Simon Ekpa on Friday.

Despite factional leader Simon Ekpa’s five-day sit-at-home edict, normal economic activity are taking place in towns across Anambra State.

The markets, banks, schools, and other public venues were all open for business, according to an Anaedoonline.ng correspondent who travelled throughout Awka and received information from other sections of the state.

Sit-at-home: Who Simon Ekpa Works For Revealed By IPOB

Over who controls IPOB, there has been a bitter rivalry between Nnamdi Kanu’s faction and that of Finland-based Simon Ekpa. Kanu’s detention appears to have provided Ekpa with the opportunity to take over.

The Kanu section of the organisation, on the other hand, had issued a counter-press release through its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, advising everyone to go about their daily responsibilities.

In addition, Nnaemeka Ejiofor, one of Kanu’s lawyers, claimed in a recent voice note purportedly delivered to Powerful that he was among the lawyers that had visited Kanu.

He said: “Onyendu (our leader) said I should tell Emma Powerful to rebroadcast this message, that those ordering sit-at-home in December when our people should be preparing to come home for Christmas are the real enemies of our people.

“They are doing this thing so that I will not be released. They may be Igbo, speaking same language with us, but they cannot be said to be our people any longer.”

Ekpa has proclaimed a five-day sit-in without giving any cause. He stated that the drill would take place on December 9, 10, 11, 12, and 14.
