Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, has warned Nigerians against voting along ethnic or religious lines in 2023.

The LP candidate issued the warning during a campaign event in Kwara State on Monday.

Obi also out that no religion or ethnic group can afford to buy bread at a lower price, therefore when politicians come to the electorate to persuade them to vote along such emotive lines, the people should tell such politicians that they are hungry, jobless, and unemployed.

Speaking at the Metropolitan Square in Ilorin, the venue of the Kwara State rally, the former Anambra State Governor said: “This year’s election, they are going to come to you and they will tell you to vote for them based on tribe. Please, tell them you are hungry, unemployed, and suffering. No tribe buys bread cheaper.”

“They will come with religion and tell you that they are Muslims or Christians. Tell them you are hungry and have no jobs and the students are not in school. All these, you should resist. Do not allow them to continue.”

Obi also promised to address insecurity around the country and maintain peace.

Meanwhile, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), drew a sizable throng to his presidential rally in Kwara state.

According to media reports, the gathering took place on Monday in Ilorin, the capital city of Kwara state.

In continuation of his campaign rally ahead of the upcoming election, the former governor of Anambra state stormed the state alongside his running mate, Datti Ahmed, and other party chieftains.
