Buhari To Convene Emergency Council Of State Meeting Over Naira/Fuel Scarcity Friday

President Muhammadu Buhari will host an emergency meeting of the Council of State on Friday to tackle the nation’s issue.

According to news reports, some of the topics that will be covered at the conference include naira scarcity, gasoline shortages, and insecurity ahead of the general elections.

The meeting, which begins at 10 a.m. in the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, will also address the protests sparked by naira scarcity in several parts of the country.

Elections Won’t Be Hampered By Fuel Or Naira Scarcity – INEC Chairman

According to the report, the summit will make key decisions in order to defuse tensions before of elections and avert a potential national catastrophe caused by the paucity of fresh naira notes.

In addition, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Usman Alkali Baba, Inspector General of Police (IGP), are expected to inform the council on election preparations.

The National Council of State is a Nigerian government agency whose tasks include policy advice to the executive.

President Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, former presidents, former heads of state, former chief justices of Nigeria, President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, governors of the 36 states of the federation, and the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami are members of the Council (SAN).
