The Independent National Electoral Commission has stated that the Enugu East senatorial election, which was supposed to take place this Saturday, would now take place on March 11 alongside the governorship elections.

This comes after INEC halted the zone’s senatorial election on Wednesday due to the death of Labour Party candidate Oyibo Chukwu.

The development was reported by INEC chairperson Mahmood Yakubu on Friday at a media briefing at the national collation headquarters in Abuja.
