Whitney Adeniran, a former student of Chrisland Schools in Opebi, Ikeja, died as a result of electrocution, according to the Lagos government.

Whitney, 12, collapsed and died during the school’s inter-house sports competition at Agege Stadium, according to the school.

However, the parents disputed the account, stating that their daughter was in fine health when the school bus arrived that morning.

In mid-February, Lagos officials ordered the school to be closed until the inquiry was completed.

Moyosore Onigbanjo, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, has finally announced the results of the autopsy.

Onigbanjo stated that the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital published the After Mortem report on March 1, 2023.

“The post-mortem report revealed the cause of death to be Asphyxia and electrocution. The Directorate of Public Prosecutions has been instructed to issue Legal Advice on the matter.”

The commissioner expressed condolences to Whitney’s family and assured the public that anyone found guilty would be charged swiftly in court.
