Ade Omole, Director of Diaspora, All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Committee (PCC), has urged opposition politicians to support Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s next president.

He made the request during an interview on Sunday in Abuja.

Mr Omole asked the opposition to follow in the footsteps of foreign leaders who had congratulated Mr Tinubu on his election as Nigeria’s president-elect.

He claimed that the charges of electoral fraud surrounding the presidential election on February 25 were insufficient to cast doubt on the entire process.

Mr. Omole asked opposing party members to lay down their weapons and let peace rule.

He further mentioned that foreign leaders have begun celebrating Mr Tinubu after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) proclaimed him the winner of the contentious race.

Mr. Omole named several of the world’s leaders, including those of the United States via Ned Price (U.S State Department).

Other foreign leaders that congratulated Mr Tinubu, he said, were France President Emanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Zelensky, and Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo, among others.

He went on to say that the President of the Republic of Niger, Mohamed Bazoum, and the Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) had also congratulated Mr Tinubu on his election as Nigeria’s president-elect.

He added that former South African President Thabo Mbeki, who heads the Commonwealth Observation Mission in Nigeria, has also congratulated Mr Tinubu.

As a result, Mr Omole asked members of the opposition, particularly their presidential contenders, to follow suit and congratulate Mr Tinubu.

He said Nigerians in the diaspora were part of the success story and that they would continue to work to safeguard Mr Tinubu’s mandate as he prepares to be sworn in as the country’s next president on May 29.
