The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has stated that it is obligated to bring to the general public’s attention the dangers of unlawful use of the NYSC uniform, logo, lyrics, literature, and other intellectual property related with the Scheme.

The Scheme stated that it is deeply concerned about the spread of varied content on social media for entertainment and political objectives.

The National Youth Service Corps stated that it remains apolitical and impartial in the ongoing political and electoral process, and that uncontrolled materials continue to paint the NYSC in a negative light.

The Scheme cited Section 14 of the NYSC Act, which clearly states that any person who, while not serving in the corps or duly authorized to do so, wears the uniform or any part of the uniform of the service corps is guilty of an offense and liable on conviction to a fine of N1,000.00 or imprisonment for a term of six months, or both.
