On Wednesday, the Labour Party stated that Nigerians would not be intimidated into giving up their rightful and legal right to seek redress in court to restore their mandate, “which was freely granted to its Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, but brazenly hijacked by highest bidders.”

Yunusa Tanko, Chief Spokesman of the Labour Party, declared this in Abuja in response to the Directorate of State Services’ (DSS) warning about an alleged scheme by some politicians or groups of individuals to form an Interim National Government.

The DSS had previously claimed that some politicians were scheming to undermine the country’s democracy through demonstrations and “obtaining spurious court injunctions” to prevent the inauguration of President-Elect Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu.

The secret police cautioned people with such intentions to stop, calling it unacceptable.

In response to the security notice, the LP spokesperson chastised the DSS for remaining silent on the violence that marred the recently ended general elections.

The DSS, according to Tanko, should have arrested some instigators of violence, such as MC Oluomo, who threatened Igbos in Lagos State prior to the gubernatorial election.

Yunusa said, “We are certain that Nigerians who want to take back their country will not be intimidated or blackmailed into abandoning a legitimate course.

“Where was the DSS when MC Oluomo and his ilk were engaged in ethnic profiling and violence against Nigerians of a certain ethnic nationality over their democratic choices?

“We urge the DSS to send these words of caution to those bigots who are pushing this country to the brink of disaster with their utterances and violent conduct against other peace-loving Nigerians who do not subscribe to their political views or speak their language.”
