A top official with the Department of State Services (DSS) has stated that individuals identified by the secret police as being involved in the attempt to impose an interim administration in the country are not beyond prosecution.

According to the DSS official, the identified individuals would be detained and charged with treason for plotting to impose an interim administration.

“The utmost charge that such a person may face is treason felony,” a source told Newsmen on Wednesday.

Recall that the DSS announced in a statement on Tuesday that it had identified those planning to prevent President-elect Bola Tinubu’s inauguration and force an Interim Government.

According to the agency, the plan to impose an interim administration is to disregard the constitution and weaken civil rule in the country, resulting in an avoidable crisis.

According to the report, the individuals intend to organize large-scale violent protests and acquire spurious court injunctions to prevent the new administration’s inauguration on May 29.

The DSS, on the other hand, offered to work with all necessary institutions, individuals, and organisations to facilitate President Muhammadu Buhari’s promised seamless and successful inauguration.

As a result, the secret police warned individuals attempting to undermine democracy in Nigeria to abandon their crafty ideas and orchestrations.
