Kwara Man Defraud Admission Seekers, Flees With Prophet’s Car

Abdulsalam Ajibola, 42, was detained by members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kwara State on suspicion of scamming two applicants for admission.

According to reports, Ajibola pretended to be a soldier and promised to assist his victims in getting accepted into the Nigerian Defense Academy in Kaduna.

This information was revealed in a statement made accessible to journalists on Monday in Ilorin, the state capital, by the NSCDC’s state spokeswoman, DSC Ayeni Olasunkanmi.

Olasunkanmi claims that the suspect was apprehended in Oke Onigbin in the state’s Isin Local Government Area, where he allegedly pretended to be a soldier in order to scam the victims.

He was said to have collected N796,000 from two people, Abdullahi Saheed and Ropo Gabriel while promising them admission slots in the NDA.

The suspect was also accused of absconding with a Toyota Picnic car belonging to a prophet, Samuel Olugbemiga, after collecting it from the owner under the guise of using it for commercial transportation.
The statement read, “The Tracking Unit of the NSCDC, Kwara State Command apprehended one Abdulsalam Ajibola, 42 years old, for allegedly impersonating a soldier to defraud some Nigerians.

“The suspect was tracked down at Oke-Onigbin, in Isin Local Government Area of the state on March 24, 2023, by the Tracking Unit of the command.

“Abdulsalam was alleged to have impersonated a soldier to defraud Abdullahi Saheed of N700,000 and Ropo Gabriel to the tune of N96,000 having promised to help them secure admission into the Nigeria Defence Academy, Kaduna.

“He was alleged to have also falsely taken a Toyota Picnic car from one Prophet Samuel Olugbemiga for commercial transportation after which he absconded.”

Olasunkanmi said the suspect would be arraigned after an investigation.
