Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the 2023 Labour Party candidate for the recently ended gubernatorial election in Lagos State, has argued that what happened in the state was a battle, not a vote.

On Arise Television’s morning broadcast on Friday, Rhodes-Vivour also stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) accountability must improve during the election’s conduct.

Rhodes-Vivour said, “What happened in Lagos was a war on Lagosians no matter how they want to colour it or module the waters.

“Look at what happened VCG as well and the complicity of INEC as well in this process need to be taken up so that If they want to try anything next time they would do things differently, give a perception of equity, fairness and justice, not these brazing rip over democracy in Lagos State.”

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was proclaimed the winner of the Lagos gubernatorial election by the INEC in March.

Sanwo-Olu received 762,134 votes to defeat the Labour Party’s Rhodes-Vivour, who received 312,329 votes, and Abdulazeez Adeniran of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who received 62,449 votes.
