Ify Rhodes-Vivour, the wife of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party (LP) gubernatorial candidate in Lagos State, has criticized people criticizing her husband for his inability to speak Yoruba.

In the recently finished election, the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, defeated the Rhodes-Vivour.

Many problems surrounded the LP candidate prior to the election, including his place of origin, name, and incapacity to converse in Yoruba.

Death, according to the scientist, looked individuals in the face during the Lagos gubernatorial election, with some people losing their lives.

Ify stated that elections have repercussions and that bigots have no influence over how people behave once they set a precedent.

Ify Rhodes-Vivour said LP won the election because the results reported by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, did not reflect the views of peaceful Lagosians.

She said: “This is for the Nigerian bigots who say they cannot vote a man because he doesn’t speak their language.

“I hope you maintain the same energy by receiving medical care only from doctors/surgeons who speak your language, home and abroad. You better be consistent with this madness

“Death stared people in the face during this election. Some lost their lives. Bigots responsible didn’t “withhold” their prejudice. Elections have consequences. Once bigots set a precedent, they have no control over how people react. Which means it may be difficult to draw a line.
