Journalists Denied Access To Banana Island Collapsed Building Site

Access to the estate has been refused to journalists who wanted to examine the scene of the seven-story building fall on Banana Island, Lagos State.

The reporters have been instructed to wait outside the estate gate. These media outlets include The ANAEDOONLINE, Punch, Channels TV, TVC, Arise, Guardian, and others.

Our correspondent was informed by the majority of journalists that they had been waiting for more than two hours.
The estate management responded when asked about the motivation for the action, “They don’t want hoodlums to enter the estate in order to prevent breakdown of law and order.

The management, however, provided a tent for the waiting journalists.

Banana Island is one of the most expensive neighbourhoods in Nigeria, home to some of the wealthiest people in the country. Access to the estate can not be gained without getting an access code from a resident.
