NDLEA seizes 235.89kg Illicit Drugs In Oyo

According to a statement released on Thursday by the state commander, Abdullah Saeed, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s Oyo State Command, 235.89kg of illegal substances were confiscated in the state between January and March.

The announcement, which was made by the command’s public relations officer, Mrs. Mutiat Okuwobi, in Ibadan, also mentioned that cannabis sativa and other narcotic and psychotropic substances were among the illegal narcotics that had been found.

He claimed that the state’s NDLEA had also detained 56 individuals for various drug-related offences.
49 of the suspects, according to the commander, were men, and seven were women.

They range in age from 16 to 60. They were detained for trafficking illegal medications like tramadol, diazepam, and cannabis sativa.

“Some of them dealt in Rohypnol, colorado, codeine and other psychotropic substances,” he said.

Saeed said that 18 people had been convicted, while seven others were rehabilitated and reintegrated into society during the period.
”We carried out sensitisation programmes in 49 locations across the state campaigning against drug abuse,” he said.

The commander urged the public to be vigilant and support the agency with reliable information that would enable it to tackle drug abuse.
