At the Vatican, Pope Francis got an autographed shirt from Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez.

The presentation was held in private, with the dean of Manchester and the bishop of Salford in attendance.

The Pope was in Manchester at the moment to proclaim a commitment to combat climate change alongside other religious leaders hosted by Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham.

“This is the first time that all of Greater Manchester’s faith leaders have come together with civic leaders to agree on our pledge for a greener Greater Manchester region,” the mayor stated, according to Yahoo.

“The historic moment our faith and civic leaders make our commitment to the Holy Father” gave him “great pride”.
