When Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu inspected the scene of the seven-story structure that collapsed on Banana Island, he ordered the demolition.

Sanwo-Olu attributed the April 12 event to incompetent state officials and developers looking to earn quick cash.

Additionally, he charged that the National Inland Waterways Authority, or NIWA, and the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing had authorized an expansion of the shoreline.
