The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) reportedly aided Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke in his argument before the Supreme Court, according to Akin Osuntokun, Director General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council.

Osuntokun claims that overvoting was used as a defense against Adeleke, although that is impossible with the BVAS.

In the case of the Osun governorship election, BVAS has been used for the purpose it is intended to serve, he continued, adding that you can manipulate the numbers but not increase the number of registered voters at a polling location.

You may recall that the Supreme Court on Tuesday confirmed Ademola Adeleke, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor on July 16, 2022, as the official head of Osun State.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the five-member Supreme Court panel, which was chaired by Justice John Okoro.

The decision upholding the Court of Appeal’s decision recognizing Adeleke as governor of Osun State was read out by Justice Emmanuel Agim.

The supreme court ruled that Oyetola had not shown sufficient proof to support his claim that there had been excessive voting in the governorship election on July 16, 2022.

The panel also unanimously decided that the Osun electoral tribunal’s disregard for Adeleke and the PDP’s preliminary objections at the trial level constituted a denial of a fair hearing and rendered the entire proceeding null and void.
