According to recent reports, President Muhammadu Buhari allegedly handed the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, a study leave.

According to news sources, the event occurs just 17 days before the Bola Tinubu-led administration’s inauguration.

According to report, the CBN governor allegedly took use of the aforementioned study leave to depart the nation before the new government took office on May 29.

According to the article, Emefiele’s attempt to leave the nation before May 29 is connected to claims that he funded terrorism and engaged in corruption.

However, the Department of State Services (DSS) is reportedly not pleased with the latest development, according to reliable sources who spoke to Newsmen.

The DSS, which has attempted to arrest the CBN governor in the past, are on the stand that he might evade justice.

The source on Friday said, “The DSS has kicked against the study leave reportedly granted to Emefiele as it means he will flee the country before May 29 when another government comes in.”

However, it should be remembered that the DSS sought to arrest the CBN governor more than once, but none of its efforts were successful.

The most recent occurred prior to the 2023 general election when the agency requested a court warrant to arrest the CBN governor. However, Justice John Tsoho, Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, declined to approve the motion, noting a flaw in the method the DSS employed in its application.

A Federal High Court in Maitama, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja granted an order preventing the secret police from arresting the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), despite the DSS’s attempts to do so after accusing Emefiele of supporting terrorism.

This platform is aware that the DSS accused Emefiele of undermining the economy, funding terrorism, and committing other economic crimes. The investigation also established a connection between Emefiele and a notorious financier of terrorism to whom the governor of the top bank had transferred money for later transfer to controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.
