Abayomi Arabambi, the national publicity secretary of the Labour Party, stated that any party members who support an interim administration should be detained and charged.

This was said by Arabambi on Thursday during an exclusive interview on the political program Political Hub on Vanguard.

The spokesperson for the Labour Party labeled supporters of the interim administration as mercenaries and members of “mushroom parties.”

He said, “These are the people we call Obidiots. They are not part of us, they are just bunch of merceneries. These are people that are predators, people that have no bearing. They thought our party is an avenue for them to come and expand their illegal coast.

“Obidients and the Labour Party should be wary of anybody that wants to cause war. The Obidients are the people that are with the Labour Party, who have agreed to follow the rule of law.”

Remember that the Lamidi Apapa-led faction of the party had previously distanced itself from the demands for an interim government and the protests that the inauguration of President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on May 29 should be postponed pending the outcome of the petitions before the Presidential Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja.

The party group stated that Tinubu’s inauguration “may not have any impact on the ongoing legal tussle on the presidential election involving our party, APC, and INEC.”

LP asserted that the Electoral Act and the Constitution of Nigeria did not allow for a void, so “whether the President-elect is sworn in or not, there is right to remove him legally if it is found that he was not duly elected,” in a statement made available to Newsmen in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

In 2003, the court confirmed Peter Obi as the new governor of Anambra State after Chris Ngige had been ousted.

Arabambi cited sections 136 and 146 of the Nigerian Constitution when he said that only demise or irreversible disability may prevent a president-elect from taking the oath of office.

Noting that, “what Peter Obi is crying for is not supported by the law,” Arabambi noted that “a refusal to swear-in Tinubu as President on May 29, will create a vacuum in the system, saying the law does not allow this.
