To challenge Tajudeen Abbas, the disgruntled candidates for Speaker of the House of Representatives are working to develop a consensus candidate.

This was said by Muktar Betara, a candidate for the speakership, on Friday during Idris Wase’s official declaration.

Recall that Tajudeen Abbas, the candidate backed by President-elect Bola Tinubu, was the target of a coalition established by the disgruntled MPs Betara, Wase, Aminu Jaji, Alhassan Doguwa, and Sada Soli, according to Newsmen.

In his speech to the alliance, Betara stated that the MPs will cooperate rather than compete to provide a candidate of broad support.

The following speaker will be chosen by the coalition’s members, he claimed.

“We can pick the candidate from among ourselves but if we will all sit down and decide on it.

“I assure all of you it is only one person that God would choose to be Speaker. I assure you we are not going to have any issues. We are going to agree to support one of us as the Speaker,” he said.
