President Buhari Receives Asset Declaration Form From CCB (Photos)

In accordance with the constitution, President Muhammadu Buhari officially received and turned in his asset declaration form on Friday in Abuja.

A group from the Code of Conduct Bureau, led by Chairman Prof. Isah Mohammed, submitted the form to him.

This law complies with the 1999 constitution’s requirement that all public officials disclose their assets and liabilities both before and after their terms in office.

CCB Gives Buhari, Osinbajo, Others Deadline To Submit Their Asset Declaration Forms

All public officials, whether chosen through elections, appointments, recruitment, or contracts, must abide by the terms of this required declaration. In addition, they are required by law to disclose not just their own financial situation but also that of their non-public officer spouses and minor children.

They have 30 days from the date they get these forms to submit them to the Bureau.

Additionally anticipated to file their asset forms to the CCB are the 28 newly elected governors, their cabinet members, and state assembly members, as well as the incoming president and vice president, Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima.

Possible repercussions for failing to declare assets are described on the CCB website.

They include being expelled from office, having the official seat vacant, paying fines, being barred from holding public office for a period of up to ten years, and having any assets obtained through corruption or abuse of office forfeited.
