Reno Omokri, a former presidential adviser, responded to the Supreme Court’s decision in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawsuit contesting the alleged double nomination of Kashim Shettima, the vice president-elect.

According to news reports, the Apex court concurred with the lower courts in its Friday verdict that the PDP lacked locus standi to bring the case.

Justice Adamu Jauro, who read the verdict, noted that the PDP interfered and was a bother because it was an APC internal matter.

Reno Omokri responded by saying that Nigerians must respect the Supreme Court’s decision because it is final rather than because it is right.

In the hopes that the PDP would succeed, he prayed that God would grant Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, the wisdom to rule Nigeria in the meantime.

He wrote: “Well, the Supreme Court has spoken, and we must accept that they are final, not because they are correct, but because they are final. The inauguration will go on.

“I pray that God will give Tinubu the wisdom to govern Nigeria well until the final determination of our main suit, which we pray the PDP wins. Whether or not we win, we shall continue to wish our country and its leaders well, even though we are disappointed”

Bashir Ahmad Reacts To Supreme Court Judgement On Suit Seeking To Disqualify Tinubu, Shettima

Recall that the PDP and Atiku Abubakar, its presidential candidate, filed a lawsuit to have Tinubu and Shettima disqualified from the election due to an alleged double nomination.

The opposing party asserted that the action was against the electoral laws. The appeal was based on the appellant’s assertions that the appellate court erred in law when it denied its appeal and upheld the trial court’s decision that the lawsuit was unfounded and without substance.

PDP claims that by designating Shettima as both the party’s vice presidential candidate and senatorial candidate for Borno Central, APC violated the law.
