In the meantime, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) plans to call 100 witnesses in support of his suit before the Presidential Election Petitions Court.

This approach contrasts with that of other parties engaged, who plan to summon 22 witnesses for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), 39 for Bola Tinubu, and 25 for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The planned mechanisms for the primary hearing of Abubakar’s petition regarding the results of the presidential election held on February 25 include proposals for the number of witnesses.

The recommendations also call for giving key witnesses and expert witnesses, some of whom will be called to testify under oath, more time—20 to 30 minutes—during their primary examination.

Despite the law allowing for a period of seven weeks, Chris Uche (SAN), lead counsel for Abubakar, claims that they will only need roughly three weeks to present their witnesses.
