In Bauchi State, PDP elected officials are gathering for a one-day retreat, but Nyesom Wike, the outgoing governor of Rivers State, is conspicuously absent.

Numerous prominent political figures have confirmed their attendance at the event, which is being held at the Banquet Hall of Government House.

Among the attendees are Governors Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa, Duoye Diri of Bayelsa, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Ademola Adeleke of Osun, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Dauda Dare of Zamafara, and Philip Shuaibu, representing Edo State’s Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

UPDATE: Beware Of Political Sycophants, Wike Advises Fubara

Wike, who formerly served as the leader of the G-5 Governors, a group of five governors that included Makinde of Oyo, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Samuel Ortom of Benue, and Ikpeazu of Abia, was conspicuously absent from the retreat and did not send a replacement.

He has not provided a formal justification for his absence.

There has been widespread speculation that Wike has joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), having previously served as governor of Rivers State for eight years under the PDP.

Critics point to the PDP’s dismal showing in the presidential election in Rivers State and his growing ties to the APC leadership as possible proof.

Wike, however, has repeatedly denied defecting to the APC from the PDP.

UPDATE: Bala Mohammed Is The New PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman

The inclusion of minority opposition party members in the retreat, according to PDP acting national chairman Umar Damagum, is part of an effort to “form a formidable and united force” in relation to the National Assembly leadership.
