Nyesom Wike, the outgoing governor of Rivers State, has cautioned Siminalaye Fubara, his successor, to be mindful of political sycophants whose only objective is to advance their own personal interests.

The former governor warned that some politicians are highly dangerous and should not be approached in concerns of governance during his Wednesday message of kindness.

Wike claimed that his determination and dedication to serving the state allowed him to overcome the obstacles that his detractors had set up against his government.

He cautioned the new Governor to avoid rumors and troublemakers. He counseled him to act decisively and firmly when making choices that will benefit the state.

He expressed his gratitude to the residents of Obio Akpor for their honor and said that the Rivers people’s unwavering support was the reason for his achievement as a leader.

Wike reflected on his political career and noted the significant contributions he had made as a Local Government Chairman, Chief of Staff, Minister, and ultimately Governor.

Bishop Innocent Uchechukwu Ordu, the Presiding Anglican Bishop of Evo Diocese, referred to the former governor as a real Son of Ikwerre and Rivers State in his sermon.

He complimented Wike on a successful term in office and said that his leadership had given the state more confidence and elevated it among Nigerian states.

The Bishop emphasized that the former governor maintained his focus and ended his eight-year term with remarkable accomplishments in all areas and sectors, despite a rocky beginning and several attempts by malign individuals to frustrate the will of the people.

Ordu claimed that Governor Wike’s careful administration of the state’s commonwealth for the welfare of the populace will live on in memory.

He was extremely appreciative of the previous governor’s assistance to the church and urged him to make himself available for greater service to the country.
