Despite the state government’s ban on the “illegal sit-at-home,” residents of Enugu City, the capital of Enugu State, southeast Nigeria, and its surroundings have continued the Monday sit-at-home.

Governor Peter Mbah reportedly threatened to close schools, marketplaces, parking lots, and other enterprises on Saturday if they failed to open for commercial or academic activities on Monday, June 5, 2023, and going forward.

The governor had said on Saturday that the order came after he recently banned or cancelled the Monday sit-at-home exercise in every corner of the state, beginning on Monday, June 5, 2023.
