Governor Hope Uzodimma has changed his ticket ahead of the state’s November 11 governorship election.

In Prof. Placid Njoku’s place, he appointed Mrs. Ekemaru Chinyere Ihuoma as his new deputy.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) provided a list of the candidates’ running mates for the 2018 election, which made this information public.

In addition to Uzodimma’s new deputy, the list showed that Samuel Anyanwu, a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had chosen Jones Onyeriri, a former member of the House of Representatives, as his running mate.

Senator Athan Achonu and former Rep. Tony Nwulu are running for governor on behalf of the Labour Party.

According to political analysts who spoke with Daily Trust, the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s pick of a female deputy is a calculated attempt to win over the state’s female voters.

Additionally, they assert that the choice of Ekemaru, who comes from the same Mbaike block as the PDP candidate, is meant to balance the opposition party’s growing influence in the upcoming election.

Analysts further think that since Ekemaru belongs to the same political party as the departing deputy, Placid Njoku, this selection is meant to make up for the residents of Ikeduru.
