Hadi Sirika, the immediate previous Minister of Aviation, has been asked to appear before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to reports, the anti-corruption agency also questioned officials from Nigerian Air about the airline’s recent inauguration in Abuja.

While the minister was scheduled to appear before the commission within the next week to address concerns about the inauguration of Nigerian Air, which was dressed in Ethiopian flags, the EFCC quizzed some alleged officers of the national carrier.

“I can confirm that there is an ongoing investigation in that regard,” he said.

According to sources, the panel would examine into the N3 billion invested in the project, despite the fact that certain parties claim that over N80 billion was spent on it.

Stakeholders were outraged when an Ethiopian airline landed in Nigeria wearing Ethiopian flags and was marketed as a national carrier.

In a recent Arise News Channel interview, the minister stated that the Ethiopian plane’s arrival in Abuja was “a marketing strategy.”
