According to the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate for 2023, Atiku Abubakar, the immediate past Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, should be practicing confession rather than thanksgiving for “badly” running the South-South state.

According to news reports, Wike held a special Thanksgiving ceremony on Sunday at the St. Peters Deanery in Rumuepirikom, Obio-Akpor, which was followed by a celebration at his home.

During the service, Wike praised God for sparing his life twice as governor of the state and for allowing him to complete his two terms in office.

A media aide to the former Vice President, Phrank Shaibu, said in a statement on Monday that Wike should go to confession for how he “badly” handled Rivers state instead of thanking God.

Shaibu claimed that the former Rivers governor’s thankfulness is not acceptable to God until “he repents of his sins.”

He said: “Governor Wike ought to be doing confessions rather than thanksgiving. Psalm 51:17 says God does not despise a broken spirit and a contrite heart.

“His thanksgiving cannot be acceptable to God unless there is first repentance.”

Shaibu went on to say that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde should focus on bringing the dividends of democracy to his people.

According to the media assistant, other G5 Governors are scrambling for appointments and protection from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He added: “Governor Makinde should, however, focus on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Oyo.

“He is the only G5 member who currently holds political office. The other four are jobless spent forces who are running helter-skelter seeking appointment and protection from the EFCC.”
