Samuel Ortom, the immediate past governor of Benue State, has denied claims that he was arrested by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives.

According to social media reports, the former governor was apprehended by the anti-graft agency in Makurdi on Monday.

Ortom, on the other hand, claimed in a statement issued Tuesday night by his media adviser, Terver Akase, that he was merely honoring an invitation from the EFCC.

“The former Governor has repeatedly said that he is available to respond to inquiries by anti-graft agencies as he has nothing to hide regarding his stewardship of Benue State.”
