Abducted Benue Priest By Gunmen Regains Freedom

Rev. Fr. Anthony Adikwu, a priest in the Otukpo Diocese who was abducted by assailants last Thursday in Benue State’s Ohimini Local Government Area, has been released.

ANAEDOONLINE According to Metro, the gunmen raided St. Margaret’s Parish in the LGA’s Ajegbe Awume hamlet at around 7 o’clock and abducted the priest.

Men from the Operation Zenda Unit, who had been sent in to find the culprits, managed to free Adikwu in an effort to save the pastor.

Armed Men Abduct Catholic Priest In Benue

The state police public relations officer, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the priest’s release and stated that he was rescued on Tuesday.

Anene said, “Our team has been in that place for some time chasing after them. It is the pressure mounted on the kidnappers by our team that made them eventually release him.”
