Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, has urged clergy to educate their congregations on the problem of blasphemy against prophets.

He said this in a tweet on his verified handle in response to the assassination of a Sokoto State citizen, Usman Buda Mai, who was accused of denigrating Prophet Muhammad’s personality.

Usman was beaten to death on Sunday for alleged blasphemy, raising consternation throughout the state.

He wrote, “Sokoto command has been on it. Let’s wait for their report and action. But I think we need to call on our clerics to carry out enlightenment on this issue.

“Blasphemy, though an offence recognized by Nigerian law, is not subject to the whims of members of the public for enforcement”.
