Lagos Gas Explosion, Four Injured

Gas exploded in Lagos in the early hours of Monday, injuring four persons.
The incident took place at Ijaiye, Agege, next to the Apostolic Church, when it was found that a store with gas cylinders inside caught fire.
One of the gas cylinders exploded due to a gas leak, setting it on fire, according to a preliminary investigation by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
The incident only involved the business, leaving out neighboring buildings and other establishments.

Despite the fact that no one was killed, the incident left 3 women and 1 man with second-degree burns of varying degrees, and the Agency is currently providing prehospital care for them alongside LASAMBUS.

LASEMA Director-General, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyitolu said, “The victims have also been moved to Lagos University Teaching Hospital LASUTH

“The inferno has been completely put out by the combined effort of LASEMA LRT, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
A post incident assessment was conducted by the Agency’s LRT alongside LASG Fire. The shop has been cordoned off to avert a secondary incident.”
