Following their sentencing for these purported crimes, Ali Ngulde, Boko Haram’s second highest-ranking leader, made the decision to execute Hassana and his associates.

Following Hassana’s death, Alhaji Ari Hajja Fusam, a Bama native, has taken his place.

Fusam previously led Boko Haram insurgents in Gaizuwa prior to their capture by the Nigerian military.

Alhaji Ari Hajja Fusam and Ba’a Issah were advanced to the ranks of Amir Fiye, while Bakura Jega, a former Nakib, was promoted to Khaid.

Existing Khaids Muke, Ali Ghana, Abbah Tukur, and Abu Isa will retain their seats.
