Former President Muhammadu Buhari is said to have gotten assurances and protection from his successor, President Bola Tinubu, regarding any political anti-corruption investigations launched by the current government.
According to reports, Buhari spoke with Tinubu on Monday night in London, United Kingdom, that he and his close advisers should be excluded from any political anti-corruption inquiry by the Tinubu-led administration.
Buhari’s appeal follows a succession of attempts by Tinubu’s government to investigate anti-corruption offenses committed by former administration officials.

In recent months, there has been an increase in calls for an investigation into the behavior of Buhari and his ministers.
Remember that the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, and the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, are both being held by the Department of State Services (DSS) on corruption and related charges.
However, a source informed Newsmen on Tuesday that one among the topics discussed by Tinubu and Buhari in London on Monday was an agreement that Buhari and his close aides would not be disturbed by any investigation or anti-corruption campaign during Tinubu’s tenure.
“Tinubu met Buhari to reportedly discuss that Buhari and his close aides will not be bothered with any ‘corruption war,’” the source said.

Meanwhile, Tinubu, who was supposed to return to Abuja on Saturday, went to London for a short private visit after participating in the two-day New Global Financial Pact Summit in Paris, France.
On Tuesday, he returned to Nigeria.
