Fire Destroys N6.7m Property, Claims Nine Lives In Kano

The Kano State Fire Service reported on Tuesday that nine people died in various fire events that took place in the state in June 2023.

Saminu Abdullahi, the state fire service’s spokesperson, acknowledged the development in a statement and stated that 26 people were saved from fire events that occurred during the reviewed month. He also added that N6.7 million worth of property was damaged by fire during that month.

Four of the 22 fire emergency-related calls the agency received in June, according to Abdullahi, were fraudulent. He said that 18 of the other calls were for rescue.
Nine lives were lost, according to the June 2023 records, he claimed.

Under the leadership of the Director, Hassan Muhammad, the service in June 2023, received emergency calls from 27 fire stations across the state. We received fire calls, rescue calls and false alarms.

“Numbers of false alarms were four, estimated properties destroyed by fire disasters recorded from June 1 to 31, 2023, worth 6,700,500,

estimated property saved by our men from different fire disasters is valued at N17,200,000.
“We will seize this opportunity to advise the general public to handle fire with care to avoid inferno, as well as abide by the traffic law to avoid road accidents.”
