The Imo State Government has alleged Rochas Okorocha the former governor of the state, is responsible for the destruction of state property.

In a statement released on Friday by the Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba, the state government accused the Senator representing Imo West in the Nation Assembly of inciting youths against state authority.

Recall that the state governor, Hope Uzodinma, had blamed politicians for the attacks on the Police Command Headquarters and Federal Correctional Center in Owerri, the state capital, on Monday.

Reacting, Okorocha berated the governor for politicizing the recent security situation in the state, asking Uzodinma to approach him for advice.

He opined that attacks on the police headquarters and the correctional center in Imo State, herdsmen crises, the unending Boko Haram insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping are all products of poverty and injustice.

But the commissioner flayed Okorocha for blaming the attacks on poverty and injustice, saying Okorocha kept the people impoverished during his tenure.

Emelumba said Okorocha has refused to condemn the Imo attacks, adding that the former governor has been inciting northern youths to destroy state property.

He said: “He is reaping political capital over the unfortunate incidents and had even gone ahead to incite northerners against the government and people of Imo state.

“It is a direct slap on the face of Imo people for Okorocha to say that the cause of the security breaches in the state was poverty and injustice when he greatly impoverished Imo people by mindlessly appropriating their commonwealth in a most unjust manner, as established by the judicial commissions of inquiry that investigated his tenure in office.
