Troops Kill Five Terrorists During Gun Battle

According to the military high command, troops stopped terrorists from Boko Haram/Islamic State of West African Province when they crossed into Nigeria from Cameroon with guns and other supplies.

In the ensuing gunfight, the soldiers of Operations Hadin Kai killed five terrorists, detained ten others, and retrieved weapons and other supplies, including grain and detergent bags.

This was revealed on Thursday during the biweekly briefing of the Defense Headquarters in Abuja by Brigadier General Abdullahi Ibrahim, the deputy director of the defense media operation.

He said, “Troops of Operation Hadin Kai troops on June 22, 2023, following an intelligence report on terrorists crossing from Cameroon to Nigeria, laid ambush along Bula Yobe-Darel Jamel in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State and made contact with the terrorists. Following a firefight, troops neutralized five Boko Haram Terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists and recovered one bag each of flour and detergent.

“Furthermore, between June 15 and 20 troops arrested 10 Boko Haram Terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists collaborators and suppliers at different locations within the general area of operations and recovered some logistic supplies meant for the terrorists including mosquito nets, mosquito coils, 2 bags of sugar and the sum of N246,235.00.”
He also said troops killed a terrorist commander identified as Naoib Jundullah.

Ibrahim said, “Following the operation, troops ambush and neutralized a notorious Boko Haram Terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists commander identified as Naoib Jundullah and recovered 1 AK47 rifle loaded with 4 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo.”

He added that a total of 967 terrorists surrendered to the military during the period under review.

Ibrahim said, “Equally, troops’ offensive operations against terrorists in the theatre of operations a total of 967 terrorists comprising of 82 adult males, 354 adult females and 531 children surrendered to troops at different locations within the joint area of operations”.
